With casino games being incredibly popular, the introduction of live online casino games has been significant. Many bookmakers now offer this service online and it varies considerably from the traditional online casino games. Baccarat is one of the most popular card games and in this article we are going to look at the basics of the game and if you are having a bet how you can approach the game the right way.

Baccarat Game Basics

The game starts with two cards being dealt to the player and the bank. The objective of each hand is to predict which hand “player” or “bank” will finish closer to a total of 9 points. You can also bet on the hand being a tied score.

Cards 2-9 represent their own numerical value with 10s and picture cards having a value of 0. In baccarat, aces are awarded points total of 1. Unlike games such as blackjack where the player chooses whether they hit or stand their hand, in baccarat those decisions are set before the game starts. The rules vary for the player hand and bank hand.

If the total points scored is above 9 the score is reduced by 10. For example, you are end up on a total of 15, your hands value at the end of the round is 5. There is also a maximum of only three cards to be used per hand.

Betting On Baccarat

There are three options you can bet on prior to a hand of Baccarat.

Player Hand – You are betting on the players hand being the closest to 9 at the end of the round. The pay-out for this if correct is 1:1 so your returns are double your stake.

Bank Hand – This time you are betting on the bank to have the closest hand to 9 at the end of the round. As with most casino games the house has an edge and if you are betting on the Bank to win although the odds are 1:1 there is usually a 5% commission paid on any winnings made betting on the bank. Therefore, your returns are a little less than double your stake.

Tie Bet – This market has the biggest odds at 8:1 and for this to win you need the player and bank hands to tie at the end of the round.

BettorMind Advice

Understand the Rules – The game itself is relatively simple although it is worth checking the rules for the game you are playing. Some online casinos will offer variable rules and offers for the game. Making sure you have a good understanding of the before playing is key.

Stake management – Like other casino games, a hand of baccarat can be over very quickly and therefore you can play a lot of games in a short period of time. Setting your self a staking plan for your session is important as it gives you control over your spending.

Take regular breaks – It can be easy to lose track of time when playing card games so having regular planned breaks allows you to keep track of the time you are spending betting and ensure you are in control of how long you play. Setting yourself a play limit before you start allows you to play for a set amount of time before stopping for a break.

Baccarat is an entertaining game which is popular all around the world. If you are new to betting on it, please take the time to consider our advice above and put in place some of the strategies which will enable you to get the most enjoyment from your betting.
